Ian Beale returns as a tramp!
The small-time entrepreneur turns up in Albert Square looking like a tramp, with bedraggled hair and an unkempt beard, and even his daughter, Lucy, struggles to recognise him.
After problems surrounding his wedding to Mandy Salter and then finding out that his half-brother Ben Mitchell was responsible for murdering Heather Trott, Ian, played by Adam Woodyatt, has been living on the streets.
Speaking about his return, EastEnders boss Lorraine Newman said: "We set up a meeting between the scriptwriters and someone who has suffered from depression so they could reflect accurately what Ian has been going through."
According to The Mirror, the producer added: "Mental health problems can happen to anyone and we hope EastEnders will help eliminate the stigma and taboo that still surrounds the issue."
